China is important strategically to India’s economic and foreign policy initiatives; the long relationship between the countries has also created a wealth of exchange in the field of religion and culture. These factors open up many opportunities in terms of careers:

Research in areas such as Foreign Policy; Economic Relations; Religion, Philosophy, History and Culture; Language and Literature.
Translation and Interpretation: in business and economics, as well as Sinological areas such as literature and culture.
Entrepreneurship: start-up culture is widespread in both countries and students can explore the possibilities of starting their own business, networking with counterparts in China, Taiwan, Singapore or Malaysia.

Programme Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the programme, students will:

Have taken HSK 5 (or equivalent) and at least HSKK-Intermediate during the programme.
Have a deep understanding of Chinese culture and distinctive features of Chinese identity, including their role on the world stage.
Have a sound grasp of modern Chinese business environment and the possibilities of engagement.
Be able to participate in India-China engagement in third countries.
Read papers at national and international conferences organised by Somaiya Vidyavihar University.
Acquire high-impact research skills.
